Microsoft Upgrades IPTV Platform

Microsoft unveils the latest, upgraded version of Internet Protocol television (IPTV) software platform.

This is the third edition of IPTV, and Microsoft's representative ensures that it has solved all previous problems, but it is still unable to run copy protected files, for example, tracks from iTunes.

"It's all brand-new technology," said Microsoft spokesman Jim Brady. "All that fine-tuning is behind us. Now the platform will really start to flex its muscles and show its capabilities."

The new IPTV has new multimedia capabilities such as:

1. Personal media sharing - this will allow a user to watch video, digital photo files, play music stored in the PCs. For this feature the user must be close enough to the PC.

2. Multimedia Application Environment - this will provide with web applications to enable video on demand, game, and TV interactive services.

3. MultiView capabilities - this will enable multiple channels displayed on one single screen.

"Microsoft is committed to providing our IPTV customers with the very best software platform so they can take full advantage of their intelligent, two-way IP networks, and begin deploying richer and more personalized TV and connected entertainment experiences," said Enrique Rodriguez, corporate vice president of the Microsoft TV business at Microsoft. "With personal media sharing and new application development capabilities, Microsoft Mediaroom brings the consumer television experience to a new level, enabling the best in TV, plus access to all your media in one place."

World's largest service providers have chosen Microsoft Mediaroom for their TV services. AT&T is among those companies, it spends about $4.6 billion to improve fiber-optic lines and work with IPTV. For HULIQ.COM
