With over 40 young people on board the two chartered buses, the St Aloysius LifeTeen group included Youth Minister, Billy G; core members, Becky Inch, Christy Fitzgerald and Casey Coleman; ARK (Advise, Reach and Kindle) members, Amy Prince, Danny Aberle, Dillon Fitzgerald, Riley Brogan, Neil Barrett, and Josh Brophy; as well as LifeTeen Alumni, their friends and family. A dozen teenagers came from St Joseph's with St Dorothy's, St Charles and St Lucien's each sending five to the march along with their families and friends.
These young people recognized the 36th anniversary of the Supreme Court's Roe vs. Wade ruling by rising at 5:00 am, assembling for a quick breakfast and embarking on a hike through freezing temperatures to the Metro station where they departed for the March for Life Youth Rally in downtown DC.
Hosted by Steve Angrisano and Matt Maher, the rally began with Praise and Worship and was followed by Mass with over 30,000 attending from all parts of the US. From there, they met the rest of the 200,000 marchers on Constitution Avenue for the 2 pm walk on Washington. They carried placards, banners and flags emblazoned with their favorite Pro-Life messages, recited the rosary, sang songs along the way, and finished by walking up the Cannon House steps to speak with the Honorable Patrick McHenry. The teen's mission included their personal, verbal appeal to Mr. McHenry, respectfully requesting that he vote 'NO' on the Freedom Of Choice Act (FOCA) that would eliminate every restriction on abortion nationwide. Other members of the entourage visited the offices of Richard Burr and Kay Hagan to deliver a similar message.
Each year, the migration to DC grows, even in spite of the many hardships endured by these pilgrims on their journey to override the atrocities of abortion. This is an important subject to our youth. They care about the 48,000,000+ lives that have been lost since January 22, 1973. A whole generation will never be known. Please join these young people and ask your congressmen and senators to vote NO! to F.O.C.A and pray for the end of abortion.
