EU and Karabakh Can Get In Touch Directly

On December 17 NKR President Arkadi Ghoukasyan met EU special envoy to South Caucasus Peter Semneby in Yerevan.

During the conversation the sides discussed regional developments, including the settlement of the Karabakh conflict. The President found the adoption of the constitution important underlining that it is the expression of the will of the Karabakh people to create their future in compliance with the democratic values. Arkadi Ghoukasyan voiced confidence that the adoption of the NKR Constitution will contribute to the process of the peaceful settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The NKR President mentioned that the conflict can be settled only in an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual trust and added that the EU can contribute to its realization too. Peter Semneby informed that he is going to visit NKR late in January and to discuss the ways of direct contact of the EU with Karabakh.
