Landmine Kills NATO Soldier in Eastern Afghanistan

Most of the NATO soldiers in eastern Afghanistan are American.

Three Canadian troops were killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb hit their vehicle in the southern province of Kandahar. The attack raised the Canadian military death toll in Afghanistan to 60 since 2002.

Also Wednesday, an Afghan official, Zhari district chief Khairuddin, said Afghan and NATO forces killed 21 Taleban militants in a battle in another part of Kandahar.

The Canadian Press agency quotes a Canadian officer as saying the fighting involved Canadian soldiers. - VOA News
