
Astronaut Piers Sellers - only the third Briton to go into space - will talk about his experiences on board the Space Shuttle Discovery when he visits the University of Edinburgh with his fellow astronauts.
Edinburgh and received a science degree from the University in 1976.
Dr Sellers and his colleagues, Mark Kelly and Lisa Nowak, will meet staff and students and attend a lunch at Old College. The crew will also give two presentations - at King's Buildings Campus and New College - when they will speak about how they became astronauts, the work of NASA and give details of their STS121 mission in July.
During their visit to Edinburgh, the crew members will also visit The Scotch Whisky Experience on the Royal Mile and the Palace of Holyroodhouse, having started the day with breakfast at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel in Glasgow Road.
There will be a chance to take photographs of the crew - in their flight suits - at Old College at 2.30pm. Photographers should go to the main entrance at Old College, South Bridge.
