Experts grapple with how to keep city moving

A major public transport seminar will explore how Edinburgh can take steps to avoid traffic gridlock.

The seminar, hosted by the University of Edinburgh, will debate how the city can develop a transport system to meet the needs of the Capital in the 21st century.

Six speakers with expertise in a range of transport-related areas will attend the event. Among the speakers will be Professor Nigel Wilson, of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, who will offer an international perspective on implementing integrated public transport, and Grant Butterworth, of Nottingham City Council, who will talk about the success of the new tram system in the east midlands.

This fully booked event will take place at St Leonard's Hall at Pollock Halls of Residence and will be chaired by Professor Geoffrey Boulton, convener of the University of Edinburgh's Transport Advisory Group.
