Kenny Chesney's much-anticipated Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour, sponsored by Cruzan Rum, touches down Saturday at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Part of a six-stadium tour across the country, the all-star event also features Brooks & Dunn, three-time Entertainers of the Year and hailed as "the Rolling Stones of Country"; triple platinum new country sensation Sugarland; current Academy of Country Music Top Female Vocalist Sara Evans; and triple Grammy-nominee Pat Green.
"We are excited that Kenny Chesney chose Philadelphia, one of the best concert markets in the country," said Eagles President and COO Joe Banner. "This promises to be one of the biggest country music shows ever in the Philadelphia area."
The stadium operations staff at Lincoln Financial Field is preparing for the sell-out crowd. The concert stage has been customized to the bowl venue, making the upcoming event a once-in-a-summer experience.
For those driving to the event, please note: The "K" Lot opens at 9 a.m. Click for Parking Map or Directions. Concert-goers are encouraged to use public transportation (SEPTA).
"There is a whole other kind of energy, other kind of dynamic. We're talking the firepower of one of country music's most hardcore, hard-rocking duos," Chesney, the reining Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year, says of his stadium shows. "All the acts really ... it's a pretty intense line-up, in what we've found to be a very exciting place to do concerts!"
Fans who have attended Chesney's stadium appearances, each with the stage customized to the field, say the all-day shows are a once-in-a-summer experience.
"There's nothing like it," said Chesney. "You know, getting all those people together for a little party ... they start tailgating, cooking out early, and then we rock straight through the night. Anyone who's ever been knows it's a helluva good time."
Philadelphia is a strong market for the man who spent six weeks at number one last year with "Summertime" from his well-past triple platinum The Road & The Radio when it comes to bringing the summer alive.
Added Natalie Conner, general manager of 92.5 XTU: "This sellout is just more evidence of why XTU listeners are the best fans in country music. We are all going to have one heck of a party at Lincoln Financial Field."
As the season heats up for Flip Flop Summer 2007 Tour kick into gear, the man who spends his time living in fast forward is gearing up for his biggest year ever.
"We've got a few surprises, some new tricks, a few different songs - and we're gonna be making it the summer of our lives," said Chesney. Hopefully, the fans'll be out there raising Hell and having a good time with us ... because we believe, and we always have, the more the merrier with shows like this."
In addition to Philadelphia, Chesney is bringing the same line-up to Pittsburgh's Heinz Field; Seattle's Qwest Field; Cleveland, Ohio's Browns Stadium; Foxboro's Gillette Stadium; and Detroit's Ford Field.
"This is our first experience working with the Philadelphia Eagles organization and based on their approach and power in the marketplace, you can count on us working together again," said Louis Messina of AEG-TMG. "I know Kenny, Brooks and Dunn, Sugarland, Sara Evans and Pat Green are all excited for a big party on June 23." - Source: Lincoln Financial Field News
