British band The Verve has reformed eight years after their acrimonious split, lead singer Richard Ashcroft says.
"The Verve - Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe, Simon Jones and Pete Salisbury - were back recording together in a London studio last week," a statement on Ashcroft's website said.
"After a summer break they will return to the studio to complete their next album."
Ashcroft also says the band - known for hits including 'Bitter Sweet Symphony' and 'The Drugs Don't Work' - are planning six gigs in November in Glasgow, Blackpool and London.
The band was formed in the northern town of Wigan in 1990. It released its debut album A Storm in Heaven three years later.
Its biggest hits appeared on Urban Hymns in 1997.
