Bomb Attacks Kill 10 in Iraq

Iraqi authorities say two bomb attacks have killed 10 people Wednesday. Officials say a roadside bomb killed five police officers in Samarra, north of the capital. After the blast, at least one civilian was killed when security forces opened fire in the area.

In Baghdad, a bombing killed five people and wounded 10 others.

Tuesday, an al-Qaida-linked group claimed responsibility for a suicide bomb attack in a Baghdad hotel, which killed at least 12 people, including four Sunni tribal leaders.

The Islamic State of Iraq said the Monday attack was in response to an Iraqi police raid on a Sunni house in al-Anbar province in which a man was detained and one of his daughters allegedly raped.

In Baghdad Tuesday, an Iraqi tribal leader was shot and killed.

In other developments, a U.S. Marine was killed while conducting combat operations in al-Anbar Tuesday. - VOA News
