Car Bomb Kills Two In Iraqi Oil City

In other developments, the U.S. military said today that one of its helicopters was shot down by insurgents south of Baghdad on July 2, but that its two pilots escaped with only minor wounds.

The military also said today that at least 23 insurgents were killed during fighting on June 30 and July 1 near the Iraqi city of Al-Ramadi.

According to the military, two Marines also died in a "nonhostile" accident on July 1 during combat operations in the western Iraqi province of Al-Anbar.

Meanwhile, the military today also issued a statement saying it is investigating an air strike on insurgent targets in the southern Iraqi city Diwaniya after local officials said 10 civilians were killed in the attack on July 2.
