Kilpatrick pleaded guilty to two obstruction of justice felony charges.
Also, the Mayor will serve 120 days in jail, serve 5 years probation, pay one million dollars restitution, surrender his pension, surrender his law license and may not seek office for 5 years.
Kilpatrick also pleaded no contest to assault charges against a court officer. Those charges will be dismissed.
It seems like this case has dragged on forever, even Barack Obama's camp called for the Mayor to resign.
Before this hearing today, the Detroit City Council had requested Governor Jennifer Granholm begin hearings to remove Kilpatrick, which began two days ago. Not wanting to go through with that, Kilpatrick decided to step down.
Also, Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings has submitted her resignation and retired. Chief Cummings was never implicated in any of the scandals.
