Alaskan Newspaper Endorses Obama

Following the lead of the New York Times and several other major newspapers, the Anchorage Daily News Alaska newspaper is endorsing Barack Obama for President.

Even though this is a memorable year for Alaska, 2008 represents their 50th year anniversary and the fact that their governor Sarah Palin received the Republican nomination, the Anchorage Daily News stated they admire “the steady hand” of Barack Obama.

Not to say that Alaskans are not proud of the favorable spotlight on their state and their maverick governor, many believe McCain and not Palin is the wrong choice for president. Alaskans like most Americans are seeking relief from the economic crisis, and a healing of the entire country.

McCain, by his own admission has said economic policy is not his strong suit. With the country suffering from record number foreclosures, uncertainty on Wall Street, John McCain may not be the man for the job.

During this economic instability McCain has said, "the fundamentals of our economy are strong" at 9 a.m. one day and by 11 a.m. was describing an economy in crisis.” His maverick style is admired on one hand for being quick acting, however, too much of a maverick is not what this country and the world climate needs right now.

The Alaska newspaper also pointed out Barack Obama is admired for his thoughtful analysis. Also the Anchorage Daily News pointed out that “…and juggle the demands of an economic meltdown, two deadly wars and a deteriorating climate crisis would stretch the governor beyond her range.”
