An assassination attempt on Barack Obama by a group of neo-Nazi skinheads was thwarted by Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF). The group plotted on killing Obama and decapitating 14 black people and shooting 88 others.
According to BBC News, Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman, 18 were charged with possessing an unregistered firearm and conspiracy to steal from a licensed gun dealer. Apparently, the men met online through a mutual friend and planned the Obama Assassination attempt.
The two skinheads had plotted on robbing a gun store in Tennessee and then going on a killing spree at a predominately African-American high school there. Federal agents, in unsealed court records from the U.S. District Court in Jackson, Tenn., say the suspects did not identify the school by name.
Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of ATF's Nashville field office, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.
"They said that would be their last, final act that they would attempt to assassinate Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn't believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."
Barack Obama is the first African-American to be nominated for president by a major political party. In recent weeks, racial incidents have been reported by the media directed toward Barack Obama. A man in Ohio created a “ghost” and hung it from his front yard tree with a Barack Obama sticker on it.
Recently, Huffington Post writer Stephen J. Ducat, Ph.D., wrote a blog post entitled, “Why They Hate Obama: Miscegenation and Other Nightmares of the Racist Political Imagination.” Ducat is a clinical psychologist from the San Francisco Bay Area who has been widely published on the subject of the psychology of politics
He talked to at least two people who openly object to a Barack Obama presidency. Ricky Thompson, a pipe fitter from Mobile, Alabama, told a New York Times reporter, "He's neither-nor. He's other. It's in the Bible. Come as one. Don't create other breeds." Another denizen of the GOP's "real America" shared his spiritual insights with the same interviewer. Glenn Reynolds, of Martinsdale, Virginia pointed out, "God taught the children of Israel not to intermarry."
In recent days a McCain campaign adviser and Colin Powell have all come out in support of Barack Obama. Current polls show Obama leading McCain 52% - 45% on pollster.com. http://www.pollster.com/blogs/or_obama_57_mccain_38_surveyus.php
Great job ATF for twarting the Obama assassination attempt.

#1 who ever is seriously going
who ever is seriously going to sit there and say that they disapprove of Obama because of his skin color and approve of McCain strictly because he is white and not because of his points and ideas and plans, they should first of all not be allowed to vote, and second are the most ignorant and stupid people ever and it embarrasses me that they are a fellow American
#2 Election Fever
The USA is on a great divide, and sometimes it hurts that the Americans themselves don't show that they know it is coming.
There are always idiots out there who try to change the path of history. But big things are happening no matter what.
In Europe we were very afraid of the election of Bush in 2000. The end results are even worse for the world than anticipated.
Americans must realize that an Obama election is the last straw they have for a good ending of their empire.
The American President is still enormous important for the worlds stability. McCain isn't fit for that job, 30% change he will reach 76 yrs. Palin is a laughing joke for that position.
Americans realize, you don't have an option.
And after all you vote for yourselves. With the Democrats you have at least the chance to have a respectable life for the years to come.
The Republicans bring the USA to bankrupcy. You really won't have that happening. Republicans don't have a good economic strategy.
Your taxes will rise, no matter what, that's the result of years of bad capital managemnt and an enormous deficit. That is not the fault of the president to come, but of the administration you had.
The rest of the world is supporting the US financial. Most of those are called your enemies...
How ridiculous do you want to have it. Your enemies are lending the capital to fight against them. How long do you realy think this will go on. And somebody has to pay one day. And that won't be Bush, Cheney or Rumsfeld. You let it happen. It happened right in front of you and it was too late to change it. Now you can.
Consider that in your foreign politics there is too much crap like friends and enemies. The world is not that simple. There the Bush administration failed and took the greatest power in this world down the drain. Therefore you need more change than you can imagine.
If you eliminate your only way out, you just don't deserve any better.
Forget religion, color, political views, it's time to go out there and work for your own future.
The GOP has messed up. That's not Obama's fault. Don't blame him.
See the things as they are.
My 2 cents from the Netherlands.
#3 SAD
We are in a recession and all these Nazis can think about is the color of his skin?? Really sad. Grow up!!
#4 McCain's camp has set out to
McCain's camp has set out to win the election by dividing the country into reds and blues. Obama's camp has set out to win the election by uniting the reds and blues. Your choice for judge of character.
Obama's association with Bill Ayers does not scare me one bit. If my worst enemy wants to create a bill that would pump millions of dollars into the education system with no strings attached... what person in their right mind would not go a long with it.
The school bully that use to take your milk money now volunteers at the soup kitchen... would you not volunteer at the same soup kitchen just because the bully is there? One has to look at the larger picture.
Seems hardly anyone remembers the scandal that mccain was involved in regarding Charles H. Keating that costed taxpayers $3.4 billion and he got off with playing dumb about the entire scandal. Does anyone vote for a political figure based on track record anymore?
People tend to think being a "maverick" is a good thing... sometimes just means neither side agree with your position. You have to ask yourself, why.
My final cent... with mccain's age... you are also voting for the VP seat. Who in their right mind thinks Palin is ready? There's just too much scandal involving abuse of power around her. The fact that the mccain camp tried to suppress subpoenas for witness to appear in court is just way too sketchy for me swallow.
I've been a lifelong republican... but I've come to realize this country cannot survive if you have to vote for red or blue.
Vote with your gut instinct... after you've done your rearch.
Come tuesday night, we'll know our countries future.
