In a battle of the smartphones, AT&T has made the LG Incite available to U.S. users. The Windows Mobile powered device will run on the 3G network and is touchscreen similar to the iPhone and the Blackberry Storm. But this 3G network has domestic as well as international capabilities.
The LG Incite comes with built in Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), aGPS for true navigation and Bluetooth 2.0, the latest wireless headset technology available. The Incite is geared toward customers who are seeking premium capabilities from their AT&T cell phones.
New Microsoft products fill the stylish looking LG Incite, including the new Windows Media Player 10 and Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5. This is LG Mobile’s first smartphone so they’ve added a 3.0 megapixel camera and camcorder that allows users to share videos and photos easily.
Taking a page from the Storm, there is an onscreen virtual keyboard in portrait view or a full QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode on this AT&T offering. The Incite even has haptic keys that give vibration feedback. For those users who don’t feel comfortable using the touch screen to navigate, then there is a scroll button to the upper right of the screen for easy access. An added bonus: an included stylus for all you old Palm users comes with the LG Incite.
Configurable drag and drop favorites menu gives users quick access to the applications that matter the most. The LG Incite is pre-loaded with goodies like AT&T Navigator which includes turn by turn voice and on screen directions aided by colorful 3-D moving maps that work when you walk or drive. Receive your business or personal emails through Microsoft Direct Push and AT&T’s Xpress Mail service, instant messaging and AT&T Mobile Music service.
When it comes to your music, there is a microSD Memory Port that offers up to 16GB of support. That 2.0 Bluetooth in the LG Incite lets you access your music through stereo headsets while sending data to other Bluetooth enabled devices. AT&T also gives it Video Share (sm) the first ever service in the U.S. that allows users to share live video over wireless devices while on a voice call. No longer do you have to get off the phone to send a video message, send it while you’re talking on the LG Incite.
AT&T’s 3G BroadbandConnect network is available in more than 320 major metropolitan areas in the U.S. In addition to having 3G connectivity, the LG Incite is also designed to connect effortlessly with AT&Ts EDGE network which is more widespread (13,000 cities and highways) than the 3G network.
