Samsung has developed a concept cellphone which has a foldable screen. First unveiled at the FPD International show in Japan, it looks like a book opening only to reveal a highly flexible OLED just large enough to handle your favorite videos.
The 2.5 inch display foldable cellphone from Samsung doesn’t have a production date, but speculation that it might be soon has been fueled by its appearance at the Yokohama FPD show. Those fortunate enough to attend were reportedly stunned when shown the foldable device. Reports say the phone actually folds like the letter “u” and that it does not wear out.
We don’t have any specs on the phone yet, seeing that it is only a prototype. But you can bet it will be picked up by a wireless carrier real soon.
Meanwhile, Sony-Ericson revealed an interesting concept phone at the 3GSM Congress in Barcelona last week. The nameless slider phone looks like it is made up of polished glass and would definitely need some sort of anti-fingerprint duster to keep it clean if it is ever released.
The Sony-Ericson model comes with an FM radio, a 3.2 megapixel camera and 2GB of onboard flash memory. In addition, Sony-Ericson reports that a 20 megapixel camera phone could be a reality by 2012.
