William Balfour Killed Hudson Family In Jealous Rage

The 27-year old Balfour is charged with three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Darnell Hudson Donerson, Jason Hudson and Julian King in October. Balfour is also charged with one count of home invasion.

Jennifer Hudson’s sister, Julia Hudson is the estranged wife of the accused killer Balfour. Julia’s 7-year old son Julian King was found dead in the back seat of an SUV near the home in Chicago where his uncle and grandmother were found murdered. Defense lawyer Josh Kutnick called his client "a victim of circumstance."

Balfour wore a neon-yellow jail attire while listening to prosecutor LuAnn Snow—who described him as a jealous man who warned Julia Hudson that "her family would suffer if he saw her with other men."
Balfour's mother, Michelle Davis-Balfour, observed the hearing from a bulletproof glass viewing area normally reserved for spectators. Davis-Balfour has vehemently denied her son’s involvement with the murders.

"My son did not do this. I am sick of this. They need to focus on somebody else," Davis-Balfour said. She said Balfour has an alibi -- he was with one of his three girlfriends the night of the slaying. "He was with Diana that night and with Kate in the morning," she said.
The prosecution said Balfour was at the Hudson family home on Chicago's South Side the morning of the murders, one day after Julia Hudson celebrated her birthday there.

It is claimed Balfour accused her seeing another man when Balfour saw a birthday present given to Julia. He then believed it was a gift from Julia’s other boyfriend.

Prosecutors state that friends took Balfour to a gas station, because Balfour's car had a problem steering, and then back to his car which was at the Hudson house. It was at this time that Balfour went into the Hudson home and shot Hudson's mother, Darnell Donerson, 57, in the living room, Snow told Judge Raymond Myles. Then, Snow said, he shot Jason Hudson, 27, while he was still in his bed. Then, the prosecution said, Balfour forced his stepson, Julian, into Jason Hudson's white Chevy Suburban.

Prosecutors say Balfour later killed Julian King in the Suburban using a single bullet to the 7-year olds’ head that also went through the floor of the vehicle. Police reports say the boy's body was wrapped in a "new shower curtain that has been identified as coming from the (Hudson) family home.” His body was found three days later in the same Chevy Suburban.
