George Obama, President's Half Brother Arrested

The half brother of President Barack Obama, George Obama, has been arrested in Kenya on charges of marijuana possession. Obama was arrested by Kenyan police in Nairobi according to CNN.

The officer in charge, Inspector Augustine Mutembei, told CNN that Obama had marijuana, called Bhang in Kenya, and also resisted arrest. Obama has a scheduled court appearance on Monday Mutembei said.

When speaking with CNN reporter David McKenzie from behind bars, Obama contends he has done nothing wrong, stating further:
"They took me from my home," he said, "I don't know why they are charging me."

George Obama does not know his famous half brother, they have met before, and nothing more. While a few close relatives were able to attend the inauguration last week, George Obama did not attend.

President Obama and George have the same father, yet their father died in a car accident when George was only 6 months old. George is his father's last child and until Barack Obama rose to fame, George was unaware of him.

There have been previous reports in the media that George was poor, "earning less than a dollar a day," and that he lived in a shack. Those media reports made George Obama angry.

"I was brought up well. I live well even now," he said. "The magazines, they have exaggerated everything.

"I think I kind of like it here. There are some challenges, but maybe it is just like where you come from, there are the same challenges," Obama said.
