A local Dallas hardware store has extended a job offer to George W. Bush. The position comes with a flexible schedule, short commute and low stress as a perk.
The independent hardware store made the offer to Bush as a way to spend his "newfound retirement." Although the position is part-time, the job offer was mailed directly to Bush. The hardware store even ran an ad about the opportunity in the Feb. 5 edition of The Dallas Morning News.
"Our greeters are a legendary part of our customer service," said Kyle Walters, Elliott's Hardware president & CEO. "And we are offering the position to Mr. Bush in all sincerity. We think it would be a great fit for him as he settles back into life in Dallas."
Even though Bush is accustomed to more luxurious job perks, here are the ones offered with the position of greeter at Elliott's Hardware:
• A flexible part-time schedule (to allow travel to Crawford)
• An opportunity to keep up on his people skills
• A seven-mile commute between the store and his new home
• Ample parking (including space for his security detail)
• Employee discount (for any projects Mrs. Bush may have on the "Honey-Do" list)
Just so you know, Elliott's Hardware is sincere in its job offer, even extending the opportunity for Bush to try out the position for a day to see if he likes it before making up his mind. The hardware store wants to tout George W.'s familiarity with working in a family-owned business (the Bush family is a family of politicians) as well as the low-stress of the job as an additional benefit.
Elliott's Hardware is a local, family-owned hardware store that has catered to the needs of North Texans since 1947. They claim to have over 100,000 hardware items as well as unbeatable customer service on its selection of hard to find items.
