Afghan delegation visits Uzbekistan

Delegation led by Minister of Energy and Water Resources of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ismail-Khan has visited Uzbekistan during the outgoing week. Within the framework of the visit the members of the delegation met with the chairman of “Uzbekenergo” State Joint-Stock Company B.Teshabaev.

Further broadening of cooperation between the two states was among the priority questions discussed in the talks. The sides said the reinforcement of the ties of collaboration in the energy sector is of paramount importance.

The Afghan delegation confirmed it highly estimates the cooperation with Uzbekistan in the context of re-establishing the economy, creating jobs for people, and developing healthcare and education – the processes under way in Afghanistan following the long civil war.

Reaffirming the significance of the cooperation in the area of electrical power supply as an important channel of mutual relations, the Uzbek side said it is ready to increase such deliveries to Afghanistan in the future.

Also, Muhammad Ismail-Khan visited the Khazrati Imam Complex (Khastimom) – the Khazrati Imam Mosque, Barokhkhon Madrasa and place of veneration of Muyi Muborak - the facilities built on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
They have underscored that the construction of such buildings is a practical result of the efforts under way in Uzbekistan in securing tolerance, upbringing the youth in the spirit of respect for national values.

The guests stressed that the profound work now accomplished in Uzbekistan with an aim to revive, restore and preserve the ancient monuments is worthy of recognition. The announcement by the Islamic Scientific, Educational and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), of Tashkent as the world capital of Islamic culture in 2007 is yet another international confirmation of the ongoing effective work in Uzbekistan to study and develop the spiritual and cultural heritage.
