He pointed out that Gazprom and LUKoil had been working in the republic for a long time, but the country needed to boost investment in various spheres, including geological exploration. Ivanov said that Uzbekistan had great potential in terms of production of natural resources. Therefore, he added that Moscow and Tashkent were in talks on modernization of gas transportation systems. The First Deputy PM also said that the two countries had discussed enrichment of uranium, produced by Uzbekistan, in Eastern Siberia.
Russia's United Aircraft Corporation and Tashkent's Chkalov aviation production association will possibly expand cooperation, [Russian] First Deputy Prime Minister Sergey Ivanov has said.
He recalled a contract on the production of two military transport [aircraft], Il-76MF, [for Jordan], which was signed today. "However, of course it was not only about two aircraft, but about prospects for the aviation complex as well. The Russian side put forward a number of proposals which the Uzbek side has found interesting," Sergey Ivanov said.
However, he did not reveal the details, and only said that it concerned "cooperation between two business entities, which were instructed to study the issue on schedule".
Today the Ilyushin company signed a contract on assembling two military transport aircraft, Il-76MF, for Jordan with Tashkent's Chkalov aviation production association in Ivanov's presence.
