Microsoft Extends Xbox 360 Warranty

This warranty extension will cost Microsoft about $1 billion, but the company has no other choice. Hardware failures were much enough for the gamers to dislike Xbox 360.

Hardware failures associated with flashing three red lights in "ring of light" around the video game console’s power button are impossible to fix. Gamers had to pay money to repair their consoles.

Microsoft did not announce the exact number of failed consoles, but said, that the most gamers were unaffected. The company also didn’t give details of failure reason. Now the company will replace failed Xbox 360s and will reimburse those gamers, who have paid for device repair.

For this particular failure Microsoft now gives three year warranty, for the rest of console failures warranty remains one year.

Microsoft move to fix Xbox 360 is a must, because of hot competition. Its rivals Nintendo’s Wii and Sony’s PlayStation 3 are much more successful, especially for price. Xbox 360 console now costs $300 and $400 and it is much expensive than the rivals. The fatal hardware failure may result in console’s complete failure. HULIQ
