Sony Won’t Cut PlayStation 3 Price

Gamers and press were actively discussing gossips about PlayStation 3 price cut, Sony declined the news. The company still is not going to change the console price.

Analysts think that PlayStation 3 price cut could help the console survive in the market. Game’s rival Xbox 360 is now in a difficult situation because of frequent hardware failures. Now the only rival is Wii.

Nintendo’s Wii is now the cheapest video game, and it is logical for the console to be the first in the market. On the other side, PlayStation 3 is mainly oriented on hard gamers, who are willing to pay the price for quality. Meanwhile Wii is oriented on a wider range of customers who mainly play for a short fun.

At this point of view, Wii and PlayStation 3 have different range of customers. Although, statistics says Nintendo sells six consoles versus Sony’s one console in Japan and two versus one in United Kingdom.

Currently PlayStation 3 costs $599 which is almost the double price of Wii. So if Sony cuts price by $100 that will increase chances for game console to survive the market, and hard gamers would be happy with the change.

Price cut during this summer would be a mart move by Sony, because in October Microsoft plans to release Xbox 360 Elite in Japan with retail price less than $400. Xbox is also oriented on hard gamers and it is the strongest rival for PlayStation 3. By that time Sony has a plenty of time to make its decision. HULIQ
