The Cessna 310, which can carry up to six passengers reported an inflight emergency to the Sanford-Orlando Airport control tower. Sanford-Orlando is aproximately 20 miles north of the main Orlando airport.
Witnesses say the plane was trailing smoke at it crossed over a main road at a very low altitiude.
The houses were totally consumed by fire, as was the wreckage of the aircraft. No fatailties are now known, but at least three people are reportedly injured. It is not known of they were in the plane or the house.
