Springfield in Vermont is officially recognized as hometown of Simpsons family.

20th Century Fox organized an online poll at USA Today’s website to let voters choose a hometown for Simpsons family.

There were 13 Springfields initially offered for the pole: in Oregon, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana. Later Springfield in Vermont was also included in the list and it won.

Springfield in Vermont got 15,367 votes of 109,582, Springfield in Illinois got 14,634 votes, and Springfield in Oregon got 13,894 votes. Springfield in Florida came the last with 1,386 votes.

Vermont presented a video by a 17-year old cameraman. It showed a local talk-show host as Homer Simpson running through town chasing a big pink doughnut.

"We're so excited," said Patricia Chaffee, vice president of the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce. "We came in at the last minute, and for us to win, we feel like the underdogs, which makes this so big and so great for us."

Now Springfield, Vermont residents are getting prepared to "The Simpsons Movie" premiere on July 21st. The other 13 competitor Springfields will also enjoy small movie screening on July 27th. HULIQ

Some thanks, huh?

I am one of 200 volunteers who appeared in the winning Springfield Vermont video. After we helped our local Chamber of Commerce win the contest, they turned their backs on us. We should have been the first in town to be invited to view the world premiere of The Simpsons Movie but instead we were kept off the invitation list so the more elite members of the community could all be invited instead. And then not even a word of thanks or mention of us in the public ceremony outside the theater. Read more and view our famous winning video now at our new website:
