Harry Potter’s Destiny

The seventh and the last “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows” will be released on July 21 and everyone is wondering what will happen with Potter.

"This is the first thing everybody is going to want to know, and I really hope that it won't be screamed from a tabloid," says Melissa Anelli, owner of a popular Harry Potter Web site. "If you care, you'll buy the book. If you haven't finished reading it by the time you see that headline, you'll be really mad."

"People are going to want to discuss whether they liked it, whether it has a good ending, if they are satisfied, but there will be warnings galore so that we don't ruin it for anyone," says Ms. Anelli. “A month may be the right amount of time to wait before publicly discussing the ending. Most of our audience will have read the book by then."

A survey conducted by Zogby Interactive polled 1373 US adults to find out what they think about Potter’s destiny. 20 percent of surveyed adults think that the main character will die, 47 percent are sure that Potter will stay alive, and 32 percent are not even guessing what will happen in the last book.

Another poll was conducted by Potter’s fan sites with mostly younger readers surveyed. 13760 of surveyed people expect Harry to die, 13477 people are sure nothing bad will happen to him, More than 3000 are unclear about what will happen to the wizard boy.

Zogby also conducted a survey among adults, about how much extra money they are ready to pay to get the last book earlier than the release data. 78 percent of surveyed adults are not willing to pay any extra money to find out what Harry Potter’s destiny is. 17 percent are willing to pay about $100 extra to get the book, and only the 3 percent will pay more than $100 to have the book.
