In Litvinenko affair Kremlin UK Row escalates

Russia and UK both have major economical interests as more than forty six joint ventures that feel the heat of this diplomatic row, engendered due to Litvinenko's death in Britain. World politics both have pivotal role to play.

Relation between the two giants Russia and Britain are getting strained in Litvinenko affair.

The death of Russian exile Alexander Litvinenko - ex KGB agent - during visit to London in the fortnight and his poisoning with radioactive polonium stretched strained relations.

Gordon Brown adds "A murder did take place. It has been investigated by the independent prosecuting authorities. They have laid a charge and they have made it clear who they want to try for this crime."

"We want to work together with Russia constructively on all the major international issues that we face," said Brown,

British officials have charged ex Russian state security agent Andrei Lugovoy involved in murder of Litvinenko, who died in a London hospital with a lethal dose of radioactive isotope polonium-210 Russia rejects the demand on plea the constitution does not permit extradition of Russians. Putin put it as political demand as Andrei Lugovoy has expressed innocence.

Russia relation with Washington and EU is gathering dust each day on issues such as missile and energy subjects and as the expulsion of four Russian diplomats by Britain will incite the Kremlin to act in same firing.

Putin's remark on non-participation in a treaty to limit armed forces, missiles in Europe has further escalated chances of offing another spell of cold war.

Foreign Secretary David Miliband said in a speech to parliament "We have chosen to expel four diplomats, four particular diplomats, in order to send a clear and proportionate signal to the Russian government about the seriousness of this case," further he adds that UK was suspending visa facilitation negotiations and would review cooperation on a number of issues.

"The government believes Russia is a key international partner for the UK," "For all these reasons we need a relationship based on trust and mutual respect." Miliband says we need co-operation from Russia in issues combating global terrorism, climate change and nuclear proliferation .

State-run RIA Novosti news agency reported on Monday - RIA quoted a "Moscow source" as saying Russia would answer Britain's measures, without going into further details.

Ministry responded on Britain sanction "cannot but lead to the most serious consequences in British-Russian relations as a whole", the ministry's spokesman, Mikhail Kamynin, said in broadcast comments.
