I know a lot of people are nervous about being pressured into something they don’t want. Regrettably I do hear stories where commission only sales people have put pressure on people or have oversold the potential.
But that said the vast majority of companies are straightforward about showing you what you’re looking for and they know that it’s your decision and if you do end up reserving something you’re not happy with you’ll only cancel it as soon as you get home.
My top tip is to do lots of research before you go, find the company that has a choice of property that appeals to you and if they’re prepared to pay towards your viewing costs then let them, as I said most are very professional and will work with you to find you that special property.
Research, research, research, the benefit of doing your homework is that you can take charge and really get the best from them, you’ll find that they are much happier dealing with people who have a clear idea of they want than people who they have to wander around with hoping for inspiration.
On the BBC TV program “Get a new life”, we did mountains of research which really paid dividends on two fronts, when you research you learn and local knowledge is invaluable and when you make your choice it is an informed choice and all the more satisfying because you didn’t leave your brains on the plane!
