Broadway musical version of John Waters's 1988 ‘Hairspray’ comedy is on the screen.

This is a soulful story about a plus-sized girl. She has big hair and big talent.

Tracy Turnblad (18-year-old Nikki Blonsky) is a Baltimore high school and she has troubles at school because of her ‘inappropriate hair height’. The problem is that her hairdo is as tall as her body. The only person who supports her is her best friend Penny Pingleton (Amanda Bynes).

Both Tracy and Penny are keen on a local TV dancing show ‘The Corny Collins Show’. They watch the show every day.

Tracy also wants to audition for the show, but she is very worried about her style. She’s making a very difficult decision to take part in the audition.

Tracy's father (Christopher Walken) supports her and tells that she's "got to think big to be big". But Edna Turnblad (John Travolta), his wife, reminds him that "Big ain't the problem in this family, Wilbur." Edna, perfectly played by Travolta, is feminine that it his hard to believe she’s not a woman.

‘The Corny Collins Show’ host (James Marsden) surprisingly appears to be very sweet to Tracy, but show manager, Velma Von Tussle (Michelle Pfeiffer) does her best to keep Tracy away from the show.

And so Tracy gets to an audition and makes new friends with Seaweed (Elijah Kelley) among them. She’s so excited about her appearance among other dancing girls.

The musical movie has the big heart and soul of 60s. It is full of energy thanks to great dancing and soulful music.

‘Hairspray’ is PG rated because of language, some suggestive content, momentary teen smoking. The musical is directed by Adam Shankman, music and lyrics by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. It runs 1 hour, 57 minutes. HULIQ
