The Straits Times Index climbed 46.76, or 1.3 percent, to 3,651.38 at the close of trading, its biggest advance since July 9. Gains today helped trim the measure's loss this week to 0.1 percent, after two consecutive weekly gains. The July futures contract rose 1.2 percent to 450.4.
