
Snap poll was called to bring in a secular government with peoples right to Vote. Turkey was in political turmoil to elect their parliament, Islamic dominating AK party wanted to impose the candidates to which the secular party and military block opposed.
Islamic rooted ruling AK Party of Turkey has won the election.
PM Erodgan has said in his victory address that he will safeguard the interest of pluralist democracy and work for national unity. "We will never make concessions over the values of people, the basic principles of our Republic. This is our promise. We will embrace Turkey as a whole without discriminating," he said at a rally in the capital, Ankara.
Supporters of the party danced in ecstasy in the streets of Istanbul and Ankara after the party has gained comprehensive victory in the General elections.
"Democracy has passed a very important test," Erdogan said. "Whoever you have voted for ... We respect your choices. We regard your differences as part of our pluralist democracy. It is our responsibility to safeguard this richness."
Election to the five hundred and fifty parliament seats is completed on Sunday in which fourteen parties are participating. Secular bloc and military insisted that the secular sanctity of the country must be maintained and we must go the people to know their verdict. AK Party did not agree to this point of view. Today 42 millions eligible turkey population go to the polls.
"Our democracy will emerge from this election strengthened," Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said as he cast his vote in Istanbul.
People came in large numbers to vote for their favorite candidates. As the Chief of the Staff General Yasar Buyukanit arrived to cast his vote there was a loud applause as mark of respect for his presence and excercising his right to vote.
Turkey is in state of mini crisis in its external policy with its membership talks with EU and relation with Iraq and Kurds.
