One snowy Christmas Eve in Washington, DC, three children and their parents take an ill-fated ride to grandmother's house. To tell their story, Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel blends elements of Noh theatre and Bunraku with her own distinctively American voice.
The play offers brief, magical glimpses of the children's future lives, but it always returns to that one fateful night, the claustrophobic car, and the moment a family shattered. The Long Christmas Ride Home combines exquisite storytelling, music and puppetry as it explores the delicate and often painful bonds of family.
Featuring: Kevin Bergen (Stephen), Kate Debelack (Claire), Laura Gianarelli (Narrator), Sumie Kaneko (Samisen player), Paul L. Nolan (Narrator), Tonya Beckman Ross (Rebecca),
