A Charismatic Cast Stars In The Exciting "This Is How It Goes"

Last season, The Studio Theatre drew record audiences for its Neil LaBute Festival, a three-play celebration that featured as its centerpiece a smash-hit production of Fat Pig. Now, in 2006-2007, The Studio Theatre continues its ongoing relationship with this major American playwright. In This Is How It Goes, LaBute once again goes for the jugular, taking on the taboos and exposing the unspoken truths of contemporary American life.

Racial prejudice wars with desire as LaBute takes audiences inside a tumultuous interracial love triangle. The production reunites several members of the Fat Pig cast and creative team, including director Paul Mullins, actress Anne Bowles, set designer Debra Booth and costume designer Kate Turner-Walker. This Is How It Goes runs January 3 through February 11, 2007. Tickets are on sale now at The Studio Theatre, 14th and P Streets NW, 202-332-3300 or www.studiotheatre.org.

For The Studio Theatre's production of This Is How It Goes, director Paul Mullins has assembled a talented three-person cast. Eric Feldman (The Man) is making his Washington debut in this production. He has appeared at regional theatres across the United States, including Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Burbank Theatre Center, the McCarter Theatre, and Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York. Mr. Feldman was trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Arts Australia, and his international credits include work at Australia's Belvoir Street Theatre, Seaside Theatre and Lyric Theatre. Benton Greene (Cody) was most recently seen in Will Power's new hip hop theatre piece, Seven, at the New York Theatre Workshop.

His other New York credits include work at New George's Theatre and the Classical Theatre of Harlem.
Mr. Greene has also performed extensively in San Francisco, at theatres including the American Conservatory Theatre (A.C.T.), San Jose Rep, Shakespeare Santa Cruz and Campo Santo.

Los Angeles. Anne Bowles (Belinda) played Jeannie in The Studio Theatre's production of Neil LaBute's Fat. She recently appeared in Of Mice and Men at the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, also directed by Paul Mullins. Her other work includes productions at Round House Theatre, Ford's Theatre, Centerstage, Olney Theatre Center and the Baltimore Shakespeare Festival.

With This Is How It Goes, Neil LaBute has created a hall of mirrors, in which an unnamed Man guides the audience on an unreliable tour through the highly charged issue of interracial relationships and unspoken prejudice. For Mullins and his team, the mysterious, ever-shifting world of the play created a new and exhilarating challenge. Debra Booth's scenic design makes use of a single white wall that cuts across the stage, angled against a large projection screen.

Together, lighting designer Michael Chybowski and sound designer Neil McFadden will create a series of distinct locations against this canvas. Kate Turner-Walker's chic, contemporary costumes bring the play's three very modern characters to life.
