The BSE 30-share Sensex, which had gathered over 166 points on Monday, rose by another 62.75 points to settle at the new peak. Earlier, it touched an intra-session high of 15,868.85 points.
Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty gained 1.40 points at 4,620.75. It also touched a new intra-day peak of 4,647.95 points and low of 4,609.75.
Market observers said buying activity remained centred around stocks of engineering, capital goods and construction companies on expectations that first quarter growth will be strong. - DDNEWS India
