Taliban release German reporter and his translator

German journalist visiting Kunor province was kidnapped by the Tali bans, en route to cover report of Air strike by allied forces killing many civilians.

Governor of Eastern province of Kunar in Afghanistan said that with an efforts of tribal eiders and other influential person the German reporter and his translator were freed today from the Tali bans who claimed earlier that they have kidnapped the media person.

"They were both freed with the mediation of tribal elders and other influential people. They are safe and sound," Shalizai Didar, the governor of eastern Kunar province, said.

The German reporter had visited to the province's Watapour district to report on a NATO-led air strike which killed several Afghan civilians some two weeks ago.

German government, has deployed more than 3,000 troops in Afghanistan, most of them part of the NATO treaty to be part International Security Assistance Force.
