Vermont Springfield is a small city of 9300 and it won the title of Simpons’ hometown competing with other 13 Springfields in Oregon, Colorado, Nebraska, Missouri, Illinois, Michigan, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida and Louisiana.
All Springfields took part in a poll at a Simpons’ fan website. Vermont Springfield came the last to the list with a video of Homer running through town chasing a big pink doughnut. It won with 15367 votes of 109582 and announced to be Simpons’ hometown.
Now Vermont Springfield celebrates Simpons’ family arrival. The city was wholly Simpons’ themed.
Main Street had a huge banner with "Welcome to Springfield, Vermont, home of the Simpsons". Costumed Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie were walking through the crowd and taking photos with their fans. Shops were full of Simpons’ themed products, such as "Duff & D'oh-Nuts" ice cream and "Duff" beer. Blue haired and tattooed fans were walking through closed streets and enjoying the party.
Vermont Springfield 212-seat theatre will host four screenings of “The Simpsons Movie”. The first screening was only for invited persons. TV series creator Matt Groening was also partying at the debut screening, he had a speech at a short ceremony before the opening. Fans will be able get their long awaited tickets for the next three screenings at the hometown.
“The Simpsons” animated TV series are running since early 90s. The show is named as the best TV show of 20th century by Time magazine. It has lots of fans of different ages who are very happy with the “The Simpsons Movie”. HULIQ
