2007 Hall of Fame Winners Known

Distinguished CPAs Recognized for Business and Industry Achievement

The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) has inducted three new members into the AICPA Business and Industry Hall of Fame, an annual event sponsored by Ajilon Finance, a leading accounting and financial staffing services company.

The AICPA Business and Industry Hall of Fame honors CPAs who provide insight and vision to their organizations, understand all facets of their enterprise, and demonstrate the leadership, commitment and strategic ability necessary to help their organizations meet the challenges of today’s dynamic market conditions.

The three winners of the Ninth Annual Business and Industry Hall of Fame Awards are: Arthur V. Neis, former Vice President, Treasurer/CFO of LCS Holdings, Inc., Des Moines, IA;
James W. Noyce, CEO of FBL Financial Group, West Des Moines, IA; and
Peggy Scott, Executive Vice President, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, LA.

Arthur V. Neis, CPA
Prior to his retirement in April 2007, Neis led treasury management, financial reporting, accounting, taxation, actuarial sciences and risk management for LCS Holdings Inc. Neis is also active in the accounting profession. He served on the AICPA Private Company Task Force, whose charge from the Board of Directors was to determine whether generally accepted accounting principles are applicable to private, for-profit entities. Currently, Neis is a member of the International Accounting Standards Board (London) Small and Medium Sized Company Reporting Standards Working Group. He is an arts advocate and a patron of artists and musicians.

James W. Noyce, CPA
Prior to becoming its CEO, Noyce served as FBL’s CFO and in several other senior financial executive positions. His leadership is best demonstrated through his commitment to the accounting profession and his local community. He authored “Financial Integrity and Compliance Success,” a chapter in the book, Inside the Minds™ — CFO Leadership Strategies. Noyce currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Mid-Iowa Council of the Boy Scouts of America, United Way of Central Iowa and the Special Olympics Iowa, where he chaired a capital campaign committee that raised $2 million for a new headquarters.

Peggy Scott, MBA, CPA
Scott, a seasoned senior financial executive, reports directly to the CEO and is responsible for finance, accounting, taxes and related areas. Formerly with Deloitte & Touche, she was the firm’s first woman to serve as a managing partner. Scott’s community involvement has included volunteer work with the Capital Area United Way and board memberships for the LSU Dean’s Advisory Council, the Superdome, Blood Center, Junior Achievement, Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce and Camp Fire.

“Each winner clearly exemplifies the strategic value of a CPA working in business and industry. The accomplishments of these new Hall of Famers demonstrate how the CPA skill set can be leveraged,” stated John F. Morrow, CPA, AICPA Vice President of Business, Industry and Government. “The winners are, of course, skilled practitioners, but they would not have gotten where they are today without top-flight leadership skills, compassion and moral strength.”

“Ajilon Finance is honored to participate in the recognition of the accomplishments of these exceptional inductees,” said Janette Marx, Senior Vice President of Ajilon Finance. “They are principled, honorable people known for their commitment to the highest standard of ethics in business and embody the beliefs of this award in their everyday work.”

The three finalists were chosen by a panel of judges assembled by the AICPA. The judges were: Henry Harmon, President and CEO, Triana Energy (2006 Hall of Fame Inductee); C. Scott Green, Executive Director, Wilmer Hale (2006 Hall of Fame Inductee); David Blansfield, Sr. Vice President, Penton Media (Business Finance Magazine); and Andrew Reina, CFO, Cornell International, Director Ajilon Pro Staffing. -AICPA
