The tax savings from the ethanol component is being passed onto customers, resulting in a two-cents per litre reduction on the normal price per litre of unleaded fuel.
United's General Manager David Szymczha says ethanol enhanced fuel is helpful for the environment, and it already appears that people are taking that into account.
"The new product, Plus-ULP is outselling regular unleaded at quite a rapid rate, so at this stage I would say that Tasmanians are really taking to this product and it will be a great seller in Tasmania and clearly there are a lot of people that feel strongly about the environment in Tasmania," Mr Szymczha said. © 2007 Australian Broadcasting Corporation
