This summer the Grand Theatre Academy at Blackpool's Grand Theatre will launch one of its most exciting projects to date - the presentation of a brand new musical based on the hit reality ITV show X Factor. This sensational new show will include live performances by young people aged 12-16 years from all across the Fylde Coast and will be performed at Montgomery High School on August 17.
Academy Director Paul David-Gough said: "This is a very exciting project, as we not only hope to discover some very talented performers, but the challenge will be to bring them together with a very structured story-line and present the audience with the opportunity to find the group/artist who really do posses the X factor.
"Considering the number of young people out there who watch this show, the 12-16 year old age group is never really represented. The age of the contestants is a little bit higher, yet so many of the younger age range really want the opportunity to be in the situation of wannabe pop-star.
“This show will give quite a few of them the opportunity to rehearse and perform their routines, as well as work on their other performance skills. The structure of this project is such that there is a very solid storyline, as we follow a number of wannabe stars through the intimidating audition process, right up to the final vote to find our X factor champions.
"The purpose of holding the auditions is that it will give us an idea of just how much talent there is out there and hopefully encourage people to form their own boy band or girl band and give it a go."
People attending won't have the intimidating task of facing Simon Cowell! They will, however, have to impress the judges on the day who will be looking for genuinely talented singers, dancers and actors.
Bands do not have to provide gear/equipment/instruments - all acts will sing unaccompanied, or in the case of the actors with a prepared, short speech. Hopefuls will be notified on the day if they have managed to progress through the first stages. -- www.blackpoolgrand.co.uk
