
London Irish have become the latest high-profile Rugby team to train at the University of Bath.
The club’s professional squad spent a week training at the University in preparation for the start of the new Guinness Premiership campaign. London Irish finished sixth last season.
One player who was on familiar turf at Bath was University of Bath Biochemistry graduate James Hudson, who joined the Exiles from Bath in 2006.
"We're really pleased with the training camp," said Brian Smith, London Irish Director of Rugby. "The guys worked hard and made great use of the University's excellent facilities.
“Our preparations for the start of the season are on track and our week at Claverton Down has contributed greatly to that."
England’s rugby squad are currently training at the University of Bath in preparation for the 2007 Rugby World Cup, while Coventry City’s footballers recently spent a week training at the University ahead of their forthcoming Championship campaign.
Sunderland AFC trained at the University of Bath last summer ahead of a season that saw them secure promotion to the Premiership, while the New Zealand All Blacks rugby team, the New Zealand Silver Ferns netball team and the South African Springboks rugby team have all trained at the University within the last 12 months.
