Illinois artists are invited to submit applications to the Illinois Artisans Program, a program of the Illinois State Museum.
The mission of the Illinois Artisans Program (IAP) is to bring national and statewide recognition to the rich heritage of fine crafts in Illinois. IAP strives to increase in makers their sense of importance as valued members of their communities and enhance their potential for economic advancement.
IAP markets craft through Illinois Artisans venues in Chicago and at Rend Lake, and museum stores in the Illinois State Museum, Springfield and Dickson Mounds Museum, Lewistown. Venues are operated under the statutory authority of the Illinois State Museum Society, the Museum’s nonprofit entity.
All areas of arts and crafts, including folk, traditional, contemporary, ethnic and country, as well as fine art forms are sought.
Artists are required to submit an application, 6-10 slides (preferably digital), artist statement, one-page resume, a self-addressed stamped envelope, and a $20 application fee made out to IAP. Deadline for submission is September 12, 2007. -- www.museum.state.il.us
