NASDAQ's Market Share in NYSE-listed Securities Reached Record Highs
The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc. (Nasdaq:NDAQ) announced on August 7th its consolidated market performance statistics for the NASDAQ Market Center for the month of July.
NASDAQ's matched market share of all U.S. Equity share volume was a record 29.1% in July 2007, more than any other U.S. exchange for the third consecutive month. NASDAQ's matched volume in all U.S. securities was a record 38.9 billion shares, an increase of 8.3% from June 2007 and 52.4% from July 2006.
During July, NASDAQ's handled market share in NASDAQ-listed securities was 75.8%(1) and matched market share in NASDAQ-listed securities was 46.3%.
NASDAQ's matched market share in NYSE-listed securities in July was a record 17.5%, up from 15.9% in June 2007 and 10.8% in July 2006. On August 1, 2007, NASDAQ's matched market share in NYSE-listed securities reached a single-day record 20.0%, up from 12.0% on the same day the year before. NASDAQ's handled market share in NYSE-listed securities was 53.9% last month.(2)
NASDAQ's total reported market share of all U.S. ETF volume in July was 51.3(3)%, with a record 8.0 billion shares changing hands.
Included in NASDAQ's handled and total reported share in July for all U.S.-listed, NASDAQ-listed, NYSE-listed, and ETF securities are average daily volumes of 1.3 billion, 545 million, 620 million, and 123 million shares, respectively, reported to the FINRA/NASDAQ Trade Reporting Facility(tm).(4)
