In a statement signed by Inimfon Etuk, Head, PR and Strategic Communications of MessageWise Limited, the organisers of the event, the new date for the event would be communicated to the stakeholders.
The meetings as stated by the organizers are to serve as follow-up on the sectoral meeting organized by them, where a strong case was made by the participants on the need for the sectoral dialogue. It would be recalled that last week, MessageWise had outlined the issues to be discussed at the event which included, the budgetary allocation/project prioritization issues; manpower crises/generational gap in specialty areas in the sector; development of alternative routes for heavy cargo transportation; non-existent fair trade policies in the sector; corruption and the abuse of power which inherently impedes due process; lack of support in the sector in its bid to drive innovative development initiatives; weak legislative process necessary for reforms in the transport sector and the communication gap between House of Representatives and operators within the transport sector amongst other things.
MessageWise said it is duty bound to create the right platform for
operators within various sectors of the economy to table their challenges and engage the legislature effectively.
Participants at the dialogue will include the Chairmen and members of the relevant House of Representatives Committee on transport and other related committees, ministries, departments and agencies, operators, regulators, unions, development agencies and the media.
