As thousands of college students make their way to campus this month in Austin, AT&T Inc. has announced the testing of a new wireless and broadband service offer designed especially for today's connected generation, who depend on a high speed Internet connection and a wireless phone as primary communication and education tools.

Available in local Austin AT&T stores beginning today, AT&T high speed Internet service is available to qualified, new and existing wireless customers, including students, without a home phone service requirement. The service, which has a price that is comparable to AT&T's traditional voice-high speed service package, provides an ideal communications service for students tied solely to their wireless phone but dependent on high speed Internet access.

Customers can sign up for AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Direct — at one of two speed options — for as low as $23.99 a month with no term or local access line requirement. New customers can also inquire about combine-billing their wireless and high speed Internet bills to benefit from even more savings. On the trial basis, the offer is only available in areas of Austin in which AT&T currently offers residential high speed Internet service.

Also available to college students in Austin is access to 30 AT&T hot spots that offer WiFi service from popular coffee shops and restaurants, including Barnes & Noble and McDonald's locations.

Using a WiFi-enabled device, students can take advantage of the nation's largest WiFi network*, on an unlimited basis and at no cost, when they subscribe to AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet Direct Pro.

"AT&T is focused on delivering communications services and customized offers that fit our customers' unique needs, such as the WiFi, wireless phone and high speed Internet needs of today's college students right here in Austin," said Jason Cardwell, director of sales for AT&T Mobility in Austin. "These offers are designed with price, performance and value in mind— created to uniquely reflect and accommodate the needs of college students."

Students can sign up for AT&T High Speed Internet, without home phone service, when they purchase new AT&T wireless service at select company stores in the local area. AT&T wireless service requires a two-year commitment and offers a variety of plans and packages available to accommodate all calling needs.

AT&T is targeting this trial of wireless phone and broadband service offerings primarily to college students in three markets: Austin, Chicago and Jacksonville. Offers in each market are similar and available in select AT&T wireless stores.
