Create, Construct, Enjoy At River & Rowing Museum

Get creative, constructive and interactive at the River & Rowing Museum’s Funtime activity centre this summer. Funtime is packed full of hands-on things to do aimed at families and children under 14 through 23 September.

In this fully interactive exhibition we want everyone to gain new experiences in an entertaining and exciting way. Have you ever wanted to stand on an ‘Olympic’ podium, build a bridge, see how far sound travels or encounter a giant nose?

This great family friendly exhibition lets you do all of this and more in its five special colour coded zones:

Olympic Zone: try a rowing machine, see if you can balance a boat, understand how oars work, stand on an ‘Olympic’ podium or try your hand at medal rubbing.

Puzzle Corner: see if you can solve the logic puzzles or use the logic toys, build a bridge or solve the spot the difference challenge.

Have a go: become really involved by making your own contribution, write a story do your own drawing or dress up in one of the many historic costumes.

Silly Senses: learn how sounds and smells work with giant pan pipes, listening tubes, a huge nose, wacky sounds and stinky smells.

Wind in the Willows wildlife: see film of all the wildlife living in and around the river and encounter some of the museum’s animal collection.

“RRM Funtime provides the opportunity for kids and families to get really hands on,” explained Michael Rowe head curator at the Museum, “the variety of experiences and challenges gives visitors an unusual and enjoyable museum experience, allowing them to get really involved and to learn in a very creative way.”

Remember entrance tickets for the Museum are valid for 12 months so you can come back as many times as you want over the next year. -- www.rrm.co.uk
