IF you have a love for all things retro then check out the JT Voyager Crusade. The Crusade is a search for the next generation of retro style arcade game programmers and was launched on the 21 February 2007 in Liverpool, UK.
The challenge is to design a new computer game that uses all the old style rules of computer gaming to run in an arcade machine. Sounds simple, but it is more of a challenge than it looks.
The out come of this competition is that the winner will have a VIP media launch party as well as winning a customer designed one off cabinet made by the competition promoters and owners Voyager Arcade Machines Ltd. Also a second and third prize are offered, that are just as good.
But the winner will also receive a helping hand into the international games market, thanks to a special deal designed by Arcade Machines Ltd. that will get the winner maximum exposure in the international gamming press, arcade machine community and also in the computer programming world.
Due to the over whelming support for the competition, the age has been lowered and the submission date extended to co-inside with Liverpool becoming the European Capital Of Culture Year in 2008.
