The Bank of England has issued this news release in respect of the financial measures taken against Al-Qaida and the Taliban.

The Bank of England, as agent for Her Majesty’s Treasury, issues this news release to advise that on 18 July and 27 July 2007 the United Nations Sanctions Committee approved amendments to a total of fifty nine existing entries on the UN Consolidated List maintained under Resolution 1390 (2002). The individuals whose identifying information has been amended continue, along with all other individuals and entities appearing on the UN Consolidated List, to fall within the UK financial sanctions regime under the Al-Qaida and Taliban (United Nations Measures) Order 2006. The amendments made by the United Nations Sanctions Committee are set out in the Annex to this News Release.

The additional information will be added to the Consolidated List of Financial Sanctions Targets which is maintained on the Bank’s website.

Financial institutions and other persons are required to check whether they maintain any accounts or otherwise hold any funds, other financial assets, economic benefits and economic resources for the individuals named in the Annex. If so, they should freeze the accounts or other funds and report their findings to the Bank of England. -Bank of England
