Under the agreement, IdeaOne is deploying Vyyo's 700 MHz non-line-of-sight wireless equipment, including the V3000 wireless broadband hub and the V280 and V284 modems, to provide high-speed access to previously unserved or underserved rural and exurban customers. The solution complements IdeaOne's existing DSL offering, enabling the company to be the only provider to be able to offer high-speed access to 100 percent of its market.
"The wide acceptance our wireless offering has received underscores the value of our commitment to deliver the best possible service to both our rural and our urban customers," said Bob Johnson, General Manager of IdeaOne Telecom Group. "Over a three-year period, we tested a number of high-speed options; the Vyyo solution was the only one that was able to provide competitive broadband speeds and was not hindered by line-of-sight restrictions that would prevent certain households from being served."
"Too often, the costs of infrastructure have subjected rural subscribers to inadequate broadband access, or none at all," said Davidi Gilo, Chairman and CEO of Vyyo. "By using our 700 MHz non-line-of-sight solution for customers who cannot be reached by DSL, IdeaOne is now able to provide equal access to high-speed services to all of its subscribers."-Vyyo
