Laughing Liberally, which has been delighting audiences across the nation with smart, savvy humor since 2005, is produced by Eric Krebs. Krebs, a highly accomplished producer—his Broadway production of It Ain’t Nothin’ But The Blues was nominated for a Tony® Award for Best Musical in 1999—also founded New Brunswick’s own George Street Playhouse, where he served as Producing Director for 14 years. Krebs continues to enrich the New Brunswick theater scene this year with Laughing Liberally, a show that combines comedy, music, and video in a multi-media performance that aims to save democracy one laugh at a time.
Called “a bruising battle in the take-no-prisoners war for America’s ideological soul” by The New York Times, Laughing Liberally promises to be a bitingly hilarious and socially relevant show. By satirizing current events and skewering political leaders, Laughing Liberally not only amuses but also enlightens audiences by trenchantly pointing out bureaucratic absurdities.
The cast of Laughing Liberally features a host of frequent headliners. Dean Obiedallah has performed on numerous national and international television programs, notably ABC’s 20/20, CNN International’s Inside the Middle East, and CNN’s American Morning. Julie Goldman has been featured on VH-1, Comedy Central, and HBO’s The Sopranos. Jim David has appeared in multiple television shows, Broadway and off-Broadway productions, and comedy festivals; Comedy Central’s Comedy Central Presents Jim David, Bravo’s Queer Eye For the Straight Guy, and NBC’s Comedy Showcase are just a few of his credits. -- www.statetheatrenj.org
