‘In Focus’ Series At London Photographers’ Gallery

This display is part of The Photographers’ Gallery recurrent In Focus series. In Focus aims to link the themes addressed in the current exhibitions.

The Movement of an Object links a group of strangers to each other through their relation to a single, banal object – a blue plastic bag. Marysa Dowling’s project shows the movement of an object as it traverses London and is recycled by thirty individuals aged two to seventy-seven.

A publication charting the progress of the bag, produced in collaboration with Luce Choules of foldedsheet, will be available priced £5/£4.50 members from The Photographers’ Gallery Bookshop.

The Movement of an Object is part of the off-site projects programme at The Photographers’ Gallery. It links, in part, with Keith Arnatt’s process-led approach, and to his series Pictures from a Rubbish Tip (1988 - 89).

The exhibition runs through September 2, 2007. The picture shows NW3, Fiona (age 33) and Zero the dog, Actress, 2007. -- www.photonet.org.uk
