New Jersey Theatre Presents Jazz Festival

The State Theatre presents an all-new festival, the New Jersey Jazz Festival at the Backstage Jazz Club, September 28-30. It’s a dream-come-true weekend of all-star music in a creative setting for serious and casual jazz fans alike. There are four sets of Jazz-packed excitement.

The first set—featuring The John Pizzarelli Quartet with Special Guest, Jessica Molaskey—takes place in the traditional 1800-seat performing arts venue, and the final three sets are in an exclusive 238-seat club-style venue on stage.

The performances during the festival will feature The John Pizzarelli Quartet with Special Guest, Jessica Molaskey at the State Theatre (9/28 at 8pm); Cedar Walton Trio featuring David Williams and Joe Farnsworth with Special Guests, Holly Hofmann & Mike Wofford at the backstage JAZZ club (9/29 at 5pm); the Paquito D’Rivera Quartet featuring Mark Walker, Alan Yavnia, Oscar Stagnaro, and Diego Urcola with Special Guest, Claudio Roditi at the backstage JAZZ club (9/29 at 9pm); and the Jon Faddis Quartet with Special Guest, Jimmy Heath at the backstage JAZZ club (9/30 at 3pm).

New On Stage Venue—backstage JAZZ club

This see ‘em sweat, 238-seat on stage venue is custom designed to give patrons an exclusive club-style experience just inches away from the artists. The backstage JAZZ club provides a unique environment for patrons to relax on stage, face the beautiful interior of the magnificently renovated 1921 hall, and experience music from living jazz greats up close and personal. The venue’s entrance and all accommodations are backstage. There will be assigned table seating and general admission non-table seating, as well as food and an array of beverages to choose from our fully-stocked bar.
